Málverkin sýna störf og daglegt líf alþýðufólks um miðbik 19. aldar í Breiðafjarðareyjum þegar fólksfjöldi var mikill og nægur matur í búri. Þau lýsa líka árstíðabundnum háttum og eldra verklagi sem var í þann mund að hverfa þegar verkin voru gerð.

The paintings show the work and way of life of people around the mid 18th century in the Breiðafjörður archipelago when the population was large and there was abundance in the pantry. They also describe seasonal customs and a bygone way of life which, at the time of their making, was about to disappear.
